Using Unmounted Stamps Tutorial - Page 2 - Written by Susan M. Trask for smARTworks

3.  With adhesive toward the mount, press stamp onto an appropriately sized
acrylic block -- one that is slightly larger than the trimmed rubber.  The better
the fit, the easier the stamping, with the best impression.

4.  Use stamp as desired -- To keep the acrylic as clean as possible, we
prefer to ink the stamp by bringing the ink pad to the rubber vs. the
      rubber to the pad.

NOTE:  Many stampers like to use some sort of cushioning with their stamps, but smART
rubber is thick, and so deeply etched, we find this completely unnecessary.

It also bears mentioning that initially, there is a different "feel" to stamping with uncushioned
rubber -- similar to sitting down on an uncushioned vs. cushioned chair -- with use, however
the difference becomes less and less noticeable.
5.  Clean the stamp --
After using regular dye or pigment ink a good wiping with a damp rag is usually adequate.
After using a solvent ink, first wipe off with a damp rag, then apply a stamp cleaner,* and wipe again.
For stubborn stains, remove stamp from block, spray with Simple Green household cleaner, and scrub with an
old toothbrush.  Rinse under clean water. (Yes, we actually do run the rubber under the tap.)

*IMPORTANT!!!  Make sure your stamp cleaner is acrylic compatible!!!

6.  Remove stamp from mount and store.
